Davies keen on friendly tests

The Trees beat Aston Villa 2-0 in a practice match on Wednesday, as Davies took the opportunity to play some of his players that are on their way back from injury such as Kelvin Wilson and Joel Lynch. And Davies is planning on arranging some similar fixtures throughout the rest of the season, rather than relying on reserve team games. "The reserve leagues do not play at the level we require," he told the Nottingham Evening Post. "You do not get teams of the calibre of Aston Villa in the reserve leagues. "We have already agreed with Villa that we will play them three or four times this season. We want to play as many games as we can against top sides. We want the standard of opposition to be as high as possible. These are the types of games we need. "With respect to the teams who were in our reserve league last season, they don't give us that. The progression our young players need was not provided."
