Davies chasing defensive recruits

Davies has been busier than most in the transfer market this summer by bringing nine new players to the City Ground. But he is still keen to add a centre-half and a left-back to his squad. The Scot is concerned Forest could be vulnerable in defence if they pick up injuries, with Kelvin Wilson's ankle problem already leaving them short of options ahead of the first game of the Championship season at Reading on Saturday. "What concerns me is the back four. We are looking at a central defender and a left-back," said Davies. "I look at the big picture and, while we may be fine now, in the short term, when we get to November, December or January, we don't want to be sitting there with gaps in the side. "Now is the right time for us to sort it and I am always hopeful because we have had some fantastic backing from the chairman and the board. "That strength in depth is what you need in a long, hard season. There is no doubt that freshness will be the key. There are two or three games in a week for most of the season and it could cost us dearly if we do not address that situation."
