The Reds travel to face Northampton Town on Wednesday night Sixfields is the venue for Steve McClaren's return to management on English soil following his ill-fated time in charge of the national team and travelling fans will be hoping to see new signings Andy Reid and Jonathan Greening in action. Northampton fielded an experimental side in a friendly against Oxford City on Tuesday night but manager Gary Johnson will send out a strong XI for the Forest game. “It’ll be nice to get on our good surface against what is a Championship/Premier League side in Forest, and then against Reading who are the same," he told the Chronicle & Echo. “That’ll be more interesting to me. Games like last night are to have a look at the squad and see how people go.” On the transfer front the Reds continue to be linked with Wayne Routledge having reportedly had a bid accepted by Newcastle United.
