Champ challenge excites Davies

Newcastle, West Brom and Middlesbrough all dropped out of the Premier League last season and will be formidable opposition in the second tier. While Davies expects a challenging campaign, the diminutive Scot is desperate to get started. "The nature of the Championship is that it is getting stronger every year," he the Nottingham Evening Post. "With the teams that have come down, that is certainly the case this season. "We know it is going to be a challenge again but we are prepared for that. It is a closely fought division every year but this time the three teams who have dropped out of the Premier League are particularly strong. "That is not a surprise. You know what standard of football you face in the Championship. But, when I look at the fixture list, I can't wait to get started."
