Chambers escapes club fine

Chambers was sent off after an 88th-minute clash with Royals striker Shane Long as the Reds began the Championship campaign with a goalless opening-day draw at the Madejski Stadium. Forest had considered appealing against the decision but were forced to abandon those plans after video footage of the incident proved inconclusive. However, boss Billy Davies confirmed that the centre-half would not be hit in the pocket. He said: "I don't think he has done anything to be fined for. I think it's a clear case of being harshly dealt with. "You've got to fine players for something they have been guilty of. In my opinion, having looked at the video we've got, I don't think Chambers was guilty of anything but trying to be a clever defender." Chambers must serve a three-match suspension. He will miss the Carling Cup tie with Bradford and the league games against West Brom and Watford.
