Worthington snubs Canaries

Northern Ireland manager Nigel Worthington claims he is not interested in returning to Norwich City after being approached by the Carrow Road board.

The Irish Football Association have turned down a request from the Championship club to speak with Worthington, who was sacked by the Canaries in 2006 following their relegation from the top-flight.

Worthington claims he is happy in the Northern Ireland job and is not interested in making a return to the Norfolk club as Glenn Roeder's successor.

"I am happy to focus on a job I am enjoying," he told BBC Sport.

"I spoke to the president about the situation and we are both happy that it was in the best interests of the association and myself that any offer from Norwich be rejected.

"I had a successful time at Norwich although the last six months were a bit hairy when tough times hit.

"I have done the Norwich job and have now moved on and I am really enjoying my role with Northern Ireland."
