Shackell omission explained

Norwich City boss Nigel Worthington has said defender Jason Shackell is now virtually fully fit again and is set to return for Tuesday's Championship clash against Crewe Alexandra.

Shackell was surprisingly not even among the substitutes in the Canaries' season-opener against Coventry City on Saturday but Worthington said after the match that the player had picked up a virus over the summer and is only just getting over it.

"He's not been fully fit," Worthington said.

"He had a virus over the summer and is playing catch-up. He had an indifferent pre-season but he's just about fully fit now."
