Roeder eyes striker swoop

Norwich City boss Glenn Roeder is desperate to bring in a new striker to bolster his Carrow Road squad.

Veteran Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink is currently training with the Canaries after leaving Cardiff City in the summer, but Roeder also has hopes of landing another frontman.

He said: "I will be working hard to bring someone in because it's obvious we need a big physical presence up front.

"I have been trying hard all week and I will be trying again tomorrow. I know the man I want, but his club are being very resolute in trying to keep him.

"But I'll keep at it because I want to bring someone in before the transfer deadline. I don't really want to rely on the loan market."
