Operation sidelines Cureton
06 Feb 2008 - 07:14:28
Norwich City striker and top scorer Jamie Cureton has had an operation to remove his appendix after suffering stomach pains.
He managed to shrug off the initial problem to come off the bench in the 1-0 victory against Preston North End on Saturday, but became ill again on Sunday and was admitted for surgery on Monday evening.
Manager Glenn Roeder said: "Jamie wasn't feeling well on Friday but he picked himself up sufficiently to take part on Saturday.
"But on Sunday his stomach problems returned and he was admitted for surgery on Monday night, for an operation that was a complete success.
"We'd like to wish Jamie a speedy recovery and hope that he doesn't miss more than the next two or three games."
The Canaries will be hoping to have Cureton back as soon as possible as they look to continue their fine form which has seen them remain undefeated in the last 11 league games.
