Norwich City boss Bryan Gunn has explained his reasons for axing captain Mark Fotheringham from the squad for the 1-0 midweek win at QPR.
Fotheringham reacted angrily to being substituted last weekend against Coventry City and Gunn believes that the midfielder will benefit from a break, while he may also be allowed to join Preston North End on loan.
Gunn told the Evening News: "It's difficult for players in front of 25,000 people when things aren't going well and you can hear the moans and groans.
"So I can understand his frustrations, but as captain of the club I was disappointed with his reaction as well.
"Sometimes you've got to be big enough and brave enough to take these knocks on the chin.
"There is always somebody that the crowd will have issues with on their style of play or their particular achievements in that individual game."
