Gunn: Canaries need miracle

Norwich City boss Bryan Gunn has conceded they need a 'miracle' to survive following Monday's costly 2-0 home defeat at the hands of Reading.

The ailing Canaries must win their final-day trip to Charlton Athletic and hope that Barnsley fail to pick up a point at Plymouth Argyle if they are to avoid slipping into the third tier of English football for the first time in 49 years.

"My captain Gary Doherty said after the game that funny things happen in football and we have to believe that a miracle can happen," said Gunn.

"We hope Plymouth help us out by putting on a performance against Barnsley in front of their own fans and we need lady luck to smile on us.

"But we have to do our own job first and focus on that for four or five days.

"We have to face up to it but there is still a chance. I will lift the players and get them fresh, fit and focused for what will be a difficult day."
