Grant's winger fears
20 Nov 2006 - 08:05:07
Norwich City boss Peter Grant has confirmed that Luke Chadwick required hospital treatment after picking up a worrying injury in the 3-1 East Anglian derby defeat at Ipswich Town on Sunday.
Chadwick, who arrived at Carrow Road on loan with a view to a permanent deal from Championship rivals Stoke City last week, grabbed his first goal for the Canaries after 26 minutes of their game at Portman Road.
However, the winger was forced out of the action later in the game when he fell into an advertising board and was taken to hospital for treatment.
Ipswich stormed back with three goals to leave Grant frustrated and worried about Chadwick's long-term fitness.
He told the club's official website: "He's gone to hospital for a check-up so I'm not sure if it's his shoulder, or whether it was the way he fell, so I don't want to comment at this moment in time."
Meanwhile, Grant blasted his team for the way they lost out to their deadly local rivals, adding: "We were awful. We were very poor from start to finish. I can accept defeat but not in the manner we displayed today.
"There are no excuses. I have some good players but if they don't do the basics properly they will not play.
"Our players had lazy minds. They worked hard enough but the thought processes let them down."
