Grant laments poor marking

07 March 2007 11:21
Norwich City manager Peter Grant bemoaned his side's defensive lapses as the Canaries' recent revival came to an end with a 2-1 defeat against promotion-chasing Derby County at Carrow Road. City had taken seven points from their previous three games to move clear of the relegation zone but Grant knows his squad still needs strengthening. "Poor marking and failure to close players down cost us the game," he lamented. "We were backing off and I've never yet seen a team win that goes on the back foot. "We've still got a soft centre which is why we are where we are and Derby are where they are."
