Fan bailed after allegation of Bassong abuse
A Swansea fan arrested for allegedly making a racist gesture at Norwich defender Sebastien Bassong was released on bail on Sunday.
The 23-year-old man was arrested on Saturday after aiming what is believed to have been a monkey gesture at Bassong following Robert Snodgrass's 77th minute goal for Norwich in their 4-3 win at the Liberty Stadium.
Former Tottenham star Bassong, who had scored Norwich's second goal earlier in the Premier League match, was among players who joined in the celebration of Snodgrass's goal.
The monkey gesture was immediately reported to the referee and police arrested the man after he was identified in the crowd from CCTV footage scrutinised by stewards.
A South Wales Police spokesman on Sunday said: "A 23-year-old man arrested for a racially aggravated public order offence at the Liberty Stadium has been released on conditional bail pending further enquiries.
"Officers are continuing to investigate the incident which took place during yesterday's game between Swansea City and Norwich."
