Doherty confident of success

Norwich City utility man Gary Doherty believes the relegated side will bounce back after a successful pre-season campaign.

After seven unbeaten games in the summer, including a respectable 3-2 success against Wigan Athletic, Doherty thinks they could fire on all fronts.

The Canaries go into the new campaign with an opening day fixture against Colchester United and, with a string of new players, Doherty is in bullish mood.

Speaking to Norwich Evening News 24, he said: "The influx of new players has helped. There's someone like Gilly (Matt Gill) who's had a successful season with Exeter, so there are winners in the team.

"It's a proper Norwich City team and everyone's got to give their all for Norwich City and I think that's going to bode well for us. Pre-season has gone fantastic. We've got everyone's hopes up and the optimism is good."
