Cureton blasts departed boss
19 Jan 2009 - 16:29:39
Norwich City striker Jamie Cureton has criticised Glenn Roeder after claiming his fellow players were given no freedom under their former boss.
Cureton has returned from a loan spell at Barnsley, scoring in a 4-0 win over the South Yorkshire side on Saturday.
The 33-year-old claimed that players in the Canaries squad felt as though Roeder 'didn't have faith in the team'.
Cureton said in an interview with BBC Radio Norfolk: "We weren't allowed to play with freedom but under caretaker manager Bryan Gunn I felt wanted again.
"It felt like a debut again. To be shipped out on loan at my age felt like the end.
"We weren't afraid to make mistakes. You looked at the bench and Gunny wasn't screaming and shouting.
"He gave me the belief that I was wanted again."
