Clingan blow angers Roeder

Norwich City boss Glenn Roeder has taken a swipe at the latest round of international friendlies after Sammy Clingan returned to Carrow Road with an ankle injury.

The midfielder picked up the problem during Northern Ireland's midweek friendly with Scotland and is a major doubt for Saturday's Championship trip to Cardiff City.

"I just think it's crazy to hold these friendlies when a player gets carried off and we're left to pick up the pieces," he told the club's official website.

"That's just my personal view."

Darel Russell is on standby to come into the starting line-up should Clingan fail to recover in time.
