Canaries set for double deal
02 Jul 2007 - 11:49:43
Norwich City are close to completing the signings of Czech Republic striker David Strihavka and Celtic goalkeeper David Marshall - according to the players' agents.
Canaries boss Peter Grant is keen to strengthen his strikeforce after selling last season's top scorer Robert Earnshaw to Derby County for £3.5million, and Strihavka seems to be at the top of his wanted list.
The Banik Ostrava player's representative, Ondrej Chovanec, was quoted in the Eastern Daily Press as saying when asked if Norwich were interested in the 24-year-old: "You are right, but so far nothing has been signed.
"It is very likely that he will move there, though. Negotiations will continue in the next week as well. Norwich have been tracking David for a long time so they are aware of his qualities."
Meanwhile, Marshall's agent Willie McKay expects the keeper to pen a permanent arrangement with Norwich this week, after spending a month on loan at Carrow Road last term.
He said: "If Celtic manager Gordon Strachan gives the go-ahead, David will have a medical on Monday or Tuesday.
"He just wants to play regularly and, with Peter Grant, Jim Duffy and Bryan Gunn there, he won't be homesick."
