Canaries lodge Doherty appeal

Norwich City manager Bryan Gunn has decided to appeal against Gary Doherty's controversial red card in the home defeat against Bristol City.

The former Tottenham defender was dismissed just before half-time by referee Andy D'Urso for a challenge on Robins striker Dele Adebola which resulted in the visitors being awarded a penalty.

Gunn said: "We've looked at it over the weekend on replays, ITV's The Championship and our club footage.

"We certainly see Gary Doherty playing the ball before anything else and we're appealing on that basis."

The Football Association will hear the appeal on Tuesday with Doherty facing a two-match ban if he fails to overturn the red card.
