Norwich City have agreed to sign Rochdale goalkeeper Matt Gilks when his contract at the League Two club ends next month.
The 25-year-old will put pen to paper on a two-year contract with the Canaries and will become manager Peter Grant's second summer signing after the free transfer capture of Crewe defender Jon Otsemobor.
"People say he can play in the Premier League and it was no surprise to me that sides in the Premier League were interested," Grant told the club's official website.
"Matt had that opportunity and he's looked at it and said he wants to play as much football as possible.
"He was more comfortable he could prove he could be the number one here and I want that competition through the team."
Meanwhile, Grant claims he is still in the hunt for Celtic keeper David Marshall despite having a £500,000 offer rejected by the Scottish champions last week.
"That's something we want," he added. "We have made an offer to Celtic and he is very keen to come to Norwich City. But how we value him and how Celtic value him seems to be different.
"But I'm not just looking at David and getting Matty proves that. We are definitely out there looking for more additions."
