Canaries close in on Whaley

Norwich City manager Bryan Gunn hopes to tie up the signing of Preston North End winger Simon Whaley shortly.

The Canaries agreed a fee with Preston for the player earlier this week and have held successful talks with the former Bury star.

Gunn told City's official website: "We were given the opportunity to speak to Simon and we're hoping that the talks we've had have been impressive for him. Obviously he's having a think about the situation now.

"We're positive on both sides. I enjoyed my talks with Simon and hopefully Simon enjoyed the talks and seeing some of the lads in the squad.

"We're hoping to make a bit of progress on that over the course of the weekend."
