McCarthy rues 'two points dropped'

Sylvan Ebanks-Blake put the hosts in front from close range in the 25th minute after the away side had enjoyed the better of the opening quarter.[LNB]Lee Croft deservedly dragged the Canaries back on level terms before the interval, before former Molineux man Carl Cort fired them in front in the 47th minute.[LNB]Ebanks-Blake then grabbed a quick-fire brace to complete his hat-trick, courtesy of three assists from the lively Matt Jarvis, and put Wolves in front.[LNB]But Norwich captain Gary Doherty stabbed home from close range after a goalmouth scramble to earn the Championship strugglers a surprise but deserved point.[LNB]"There's some good points in it and some really awful points.[LNB]"Our defending was awful, our response was fantastic, the spirit of the players was great," said the Wolves boss.[LNB]"It's two points dropped. Even giving them a goal as awful as we gave them (Croft's opener) we still had chances before half-time.[LNB]"Great goal from Corty but we're in possession and we lose it, but then they should have scored a third before we got in front.[LNB]"And then to get in front and concede from a corner the way we did was dreadful."[LNB]He added: "We're not just going to wipe the floor with people just because it was Norwich and they're fighting in the bottom half.[LNB]"We've still got to play Barnsley, Charlton, Southampton and Doncaster - they're all below us but they're fighting for points to stay in the league, it doesn't make it easy."[LNB]Opposite number Bryan Gunn was understandably thrilled with his side's point - a result which added to their equally impressive 5-2 victory over Wolves at Carrow Road earlier in the season.[LNB]"The team performance was excellent and our commitment was excellent," he said.[LNB]"It was a passionate display which we asked for and I've got during the four games since I've been involved.[LNB]"The lads keep setting the standards and raising the bar. They were disappointed in the dressing room that they didn't win the game, which is good.[LNB]"I was disappointed as we had some chances at some crucial times in the game when we could have put it beyond doubt.[LNB]"But we've got to be proud to come to the league leaders and put in a performance like that.[LNB]"We've got to be happy with the score and we move on now to what will be a crucial game against Bristol City."[LNB]The Canaries boss admitted his side could improve on their defending following the manner of the three goals they conceded, but he remains upbeat and is confident they can drag themselves out of trouble.[LNB]"The players just need to believe in themselves and in each other," he added.[LNB]"There's no reason why we can't go into the last 15 games of the season and have that same level of commitment (shown against Wolves in their two games this season), and hopefully we can move ourselves out of the still precarious position we're in."[LNB][LNB]
