Martin targets promotion challenge
Martin hit a brace and Simon Whaley grabbed the winner as Bryan Gunn's side saw off Wigan 3-2 at Carrow Road in their final pre-season fixture, and the striker is in confident mood.
He said: "It's a big boost to our morale going into the first game of the season.
"I was happy to get two goals, every player is trying to stake a claim in the starting XI for Colchester next week and hopefully I've done that now.
"There's no reason why we can't be challenging at the top of League One this year.
"We have assembled a fine squad here now and we should be up there."
