Lambert praises effort

Norwich manager Paul Lambert refused to come down hard on his players despite the 2-0 defeat at home to Hull. The Tigers took the lead against the run of play in the 83rd minute when Robert Koren headed home after Andy Dawson's shot had deflected off Elliott Ward and Tom Cairney's stunning 20-yard free-kick wrapped up the points with two minutes left. Lambert said: "We are obviously disappointed to have lost the game but I can't criticise my players after that. "They were excellent and I think everyone in the ground could see they were the better side. Nigel Pearson even admitted it. We'll play a lot worse than that and win that's for sure. "I think the reaction of the crowd said it all at the end. They applauded us off the pitch because they could see the lads had done everything possible to win the game. "It was just one of those days when things didn't go for us."
