Lambert plays down Canaries climb

The Canaries have now won nine games out of 11 thanks to a late strike from teenager Korey Smith after it looked like the visitors would be frustrated by Wycombe keeper Scott Shearer.[LNB]Lambert, though, believes his players were worth their win and paid tribute to the Norwich fans whose vocal support looked to give the team the boost they needed.[LNB]"When I took over if you said we would be second in the league I'd have taken it, but I want to be first," he said. "I can't thank the players enough, they have been terrific.[LNB]"I'm a great believer in trying to win as many games as you can. We have made great strides in the last few months, but it's only a table and I'm not one for looking at it at the moment."[LNB]Lambert continued: "We have a never-say-die attitude backed by a terrific following that spurs us on. The fans came a long way to see us at Walsall and that was called off so it's a massive thanks to them for that and again they were incredible."[LNB][LNB]
