Lambert backing Hoolahan

Norwich manager Paul Lambert believes Wes Hoolahan "will step up to the plate" and be a success in the Championship this season. The Irish midfielder, who along with strike-duo Grant Holt and Chris Martin, played a pivotal part in the Canaries cruising to the League One title last term. He was again in sparkling form in the 2-1 victory over Newcastle in a pre-season friendly at Carrow Road on Saturday, his trickery setting up the opener goal for Martin. Lambert told the Eastern Daily Press: "It was phenomenal. When he's on form he's unplayable at times, the way he plays the game. "I have no doubt Wes will step up to the plate. He's a terrific footballer, his ability is always there. Teams might want to man-mark him but when you are that type of player you have got to expect to be followed. But he's got the ability to beat people."
