Hughes set for swift injury return
The free-transfer summer signing from Motherwell missed the dramatic 2-2 draw at home to Charlton last Saturday with a foot injury he sustained in the defeat at MK Dons the previous Monday.
But he trained on Thursday and is likely to be included in the squad, with manager Paul Lambert saying: "Stephen is back in light training. He had a problem with a nerve in his foot. I know how damaging that can be but he trained and he did OK.
"He will be in the squad if everything goes okay."
Defender Michael Nelson is out for five weeks after damaging ankle ligaments at MK Dons so Michael Spillane will continue to deputise alongside Jens Berthel Askou.
Wes Hoolahan was recalled against Charlton and scored so should keep his place.
