Norwich City have named experienced defender Gary Doherty as their club captain after Mark Fotheringham was stripped of the armband. After seeing Fotheringham react badly to being substituted, Canaries boss Bryan Gunn sees the Republic of Ireland man, 29, is the perfect replacement. Gunn told BBC Radio Norfolk: "Doc's respected within the dressing room - it's a good opportunity for him. "We hope for the rest of the season, he'll be an inspirational leader." Sammy Clingan has been appointed the club's vice-captain, while Fotheringham's future with the club remains unclear. Gunn continued: "Mark's under contract until the end of the season and we've had a chat and decided this is the best way forward.
