Doherty was dropped by manager Paul Lambert after the 4-1 Carling Cup defeat at home to Sunderland in August but was drafted back in for the 4-0 win over Orient and put in a solid display. He said: "Obviously when you're not involved for a long while you're a bit worried about how your fitness will be. "It's okay training and keeping yourself ticking over but when it comes to playing matches there's a big difference. "So I'm quite proud of the way I played and obviously getting the win was massive for us. "The three games I'd played at Carrow Road this season were a disaster for me really so it was important that I put in a good performance. I think I did and hopefully now I can play on Saturday as well."
