Coyle happy to make Clarets point

The Clarets were under the cosh for long periods and went behind on 20 minutes when Jamie Cureton finished off a slick move with a close range side foot into the back of the net.[LNB]But they got back on level terms just before the break when Steven Thompson tapped the ball home after David Marshall had saved from Robbie Blake - and might have even won it at the death when substitute Chris Eagles wasted a glorious opportunity.[LNB]In the end Coyle felt a draw was a fair result, even though his side would have moved into the play-off positions had that late chance gone in.[LNB]He said: "When Chris played that one-two on the edge of the area and found himself in a one-on-one with their keeper you are thinking 'goal' because of the quality he has got and the fact that he scored twice against Norwich earlier in the season.[LNB]"Sadly it was not to be, but overall I thought it would have been a travesty if we had won the game because Norwich put in a really good performance. Bryan Gunn has got them playing for him and if they carry on like that I am sure they will be moving up the table in no time at all.[LNB]"Norwich scored a good goal and for the next 10 minutes or so they put us under a lot of pressure, but Brian Jensen made a good save and we gradually got a foothold in the game.[LNB]"We managed to get a goal back with a good move, but I must admit we were fortunate to be level at the break on the balance of play.[LNB]"Norwich probably had the biggest share of chances in the second half as well, but I was very pleased with the way we defended. When I first came here we would probably have lost a game like that, but we showed a lot of character, stood up to be counted, and came away with a hard-earned draw.[LNB]"Overall I think it is a very positive point."[LNB]Burnley are outside the play-off position on goal difference and Coyle feels they are in a good position to challenge for promotion.[LNB]"It doesn't matter about being in the top six now, it's about being in the top six at the end of the season and that is obviously what we are aiming for," he said.[LNB]"We have got an awful lot to play for, an awful lot to look forward to, between now and the end of the season and this result means we have gone another game unbeaten.[LNB]"We managed a long unbeaten run earlier in the season and that is what we are aiming for again.[LNB]Norwich City manager Gunn is convinced his side has got what it takes to avoid the drop down into League One.[LNB]"We've got a massive home game against Coventry now," said Gunn.[LNB]"We have got 12 cup finals left and we need to win more of them than we lose or draw to stay up.[LNB]"I think we will do it and I think the players believe that as well, they are very down in the dressing room at the moment because they have not taken all three points off a side who are going from promotion. That's the sort of attitude and character we will need in all our remaining 12 games and it was good to see."[LNB]As for the game itself Gunn added: "It was definitely a game we could have won. Apart from their goal and the late Chris Eagles chance, I can't remember Burnley causing us too many worries and they are an excellent side who I am sure will be in the promotion shake-up. Brian Jensen made two fantastic saves to keep us out and I thought the one from Carl Cort in the first half was the most important.[LNB]"Had we gone two up then we would have had a lot more to hang on to, but he kept out the header and it wasn't long before they had got it back to 1-1."[LNB][LNB]
