Canaries want the right appointment
Gunn had his contract terminated on Friday afternoon, leaving Ian Butterworth to oversee the 1-1 draw against Exeter at St James' Park. But despite taking the lead through Jens Berthel Askou's header, Richard Logan equalised for the Grecians within a minute of coming on as a substitute.
However, it was the sacking of Gunn that was still very much the talking point with McNally dismissing reports that former Chelsea striker Jimmy Floyd-Hasselbaink was set to take over at Carrow Road with Gus Poyet his assistant.
"I have been told that it has been reported already, but I don't even know who Jimmy Floyd-Hasselbaink's agents are, I have no association with him," said McNally. "I wish we could have Jimmy here at the club as a 25-year-old striker, but I don't know who his agents are.
"It is down to me to lead the recruitment process and that is what I will do. It will take every waking moment for me to go and find the right man and that's my task. I will work closely with the chairman and the board in terms of ensuring we will get the right person to take this great club forward.
"We have thought through what we need to do and it is my job now to go and get the right person. The recruitment is different to what has followed in the past and we won't just target people that apply for the job."
