The visitors held firm for 75 minutes at Carrow Road, but the incessant Norwich pressure finally told with goals from Chris Martin, Grant Holt, Michael Spillane and Jamie Cureton. Orient midfielder JJ Melligan had been sent off for a studs-up challenge on Adam Drury early in the second period. "This club was battered and bruised when I arrived after relegation and the shock of losing their first game 7-1 and them losing their manager," said Lambert. "But as each game goes by they are slowly getting there and I thought some of the football they played was terrific. "It's all down to the players. They are giving it everything they've got and full credit to them for the way they played. I thought they were absolutely brilliant. They stayed patient and with the quality they have got I was always confident the goals would come."
