Askou ready for first-team fight

Fit-again Danish defender Jens Berthel Askou knows he faces a battle to win his place back in the Norwich team. Askou has been missing from the first-team picture since mid-December with a broken metatarsal but has now made two reserve outings as he nears a return to boss Paul Lambert`s squad. Askou told the club`s official website: "Physically I feel fit and I don`t feel anything from my injury so that`s a good sign and it`s just up to the gaffer now to judge when I`m ready for him. "There`s great competition, we have a very strong squad and it`s difficult to get back in the team. But that`s just good for the team and for the club that there`s plenty of good players to cover when something happens. "There`s still a lot of games to go so we`ll be needing everybody. We need to get that promotion secured. If I`m going to be a part of that from now on or not that`s not the main thing. "The main thing is to get the club up in the Championship and hopefully from a personal perspective I`m hoping to get back in at some point and be part of it again."
