Vics give boss job to Davis

Thursday Sep 29 2005 16:55

Northwich Victoria have confirmed Steve Davis as the successor to former manager Jimmy Quinn, now at Nationwide Conference rivals Shrewsbury Town.

The Vics had earlier drawn up a shortlist of six to succeed Quinn, but have decided to keep the job in-house with Davis taking permanent charge at Wincham Park.

Vics chairman Dave Stone had earlier said of Davis: "He has impressed everybody at the club with his commitment and ability with the youth and community programmes and is respected by the players."

The 37-year-old former Crewe, Burnley and Barnsley defender has been with the Vics since the summer of 2000, having joined from Oxford United, and was put in interim charge just over a week ago.
