Town target Russell stay
27 Sep 2007 - 07:16:06
Northampton Town boss Stuart Gray is hopeful of being able to extend midfielder Alex Russell's loan spell with the Cobblers.
The 34-year-old Bristol City schemer has impressed during his initial month at Sixfields and Gray is upbeat about extending the deal, with the Robins riding high in the Championship.
He told the Northampton Chronicle: "In terms of extending Alex's stay with us, it's probably the case that the better Bristol City do, the better it will be for us.
"We would definitely like to extend his loan period and it's something I will be talking to Gary Johnson and Alex himself about in the very near future.
"He has been an excellent addition for us. He knows when to slow the pace of a game down and when to pick it up as well and he's got a very good habit of always passing to someone in a claret shirt."
