Top detective retires from police

One of Northamptonshire Police's top detectives, who acted as family liaison officer to the Spencers after the death of Princess Diana, has retired.Det Supt Charles Moffat, who in 2003 investigated the high-profile rape and murder of 79-year-old Joan Biggs, retires after 30 years with the force. Det Supt Moffat joined Northamptonshire Police in June 1979 having been a pupil at Northampton Grammar School. He lives in Northampton with his wife Annette and sons Edward and William.
