Rare away win as Cobblers end on a high

Northampton Town finished in 16th place in League Two following victory at Morecambe After the very real threat of relegation out of the Football League, the Cobblers final placing looks slightly healthier following two consecutive wins. Gary Johnson will know that, amongst a number of other things, he has to improve his side's away record next season. Saturday's victory was only a third success on the road for Northampton in the 2010/11 campaign which together with ten draws gives them a haul of just nineteen points away from Sixfields. Reiterating his belief that Johnson is the man to take the Cobblers up next year, chairman David Cardoza told the Chronicle & Echo ahead of Saturday's game: “The season was a disappointment, a bitter disappointment, and we have to draw a line under it and move on. It was that poor. “I can’t quite put my finger on why it all went wrong but it did. “We won at Anfield and then it all went wrong after that. “But sometimes perhaps these things happen and they are for the best because we can come back stronger next season.”
