Platt's Why We're Off The Bottom!
Aidy Boothroyd paid tribute to Clive Platt after the crucial 1-0 win against Accrington Stanley
The experienced forward returned from injury recently and was paired alongside new loan signing Izale McLeod for the Sixfields clash enabling the Cobblers, having shown their resilient side in midweek at Chesterfield to add some attacking threat to their game as well.
McLeod missed a penalty but showed why he has been a regular goalscorer throughout his professional career while the rekindling of his former MK Dons partnership with Platt was a key factor in Boothroyd's capture of the player.
"Izale suits the way I want us to play and reads Clive well," said the Town boss.
"The number nine role is becoming less fashionable in today’s game but I’m a big believer in the number nine, that’s why I’ve taken Clive to three clubs."
A former number nine himself, Accrington manager James Beattie felt his side gave themselves too much to do in the game by starting slowly.
"Not enough of the players were at it, we improved in the second half and I can't fault the lads at all for their effort, they've been great on the run we've been on."
