Pearce agrees Cobblers stay

Northampton Town have extended the loan stay of Reading defender Alex Pearce at Sixfields until the end of the season.

The 18-year-old defender originally agreed a one-month switch to the League One club but has impressed boss Stuart Gray in his five appearances to date.

Pearce will now remain with Northampton until the end of the season, but the Premiership club do have a 24-hour recall in place in case of an injury crisis at the Madejski Stadium.

"We're pleased Alex will be staying with us for a while longer," said Gray.

"He's done well since coming, he's shown maturity for his age and I'm sure he's benefited from his time here."
