Oxford Plan To Stop Cobblers Hitman

Oxford United are the latest League Two side to try and stop Bayo Akinfenwa in his tracks

Northampton's recent good run of results has coincided with Akinfenwa hitting top form and the burly striker now has 13 goals to his name.

Versatile Oxford defender Andy Whing may come up against Akinfenwa directly at the weekend if he moves across from right-back for the local derby clash.

Whing told the Oxford Mail: “For his size he’s quite mobile, but we know what his strengths are – he doesn’t need to jump, he just gets his body in the way.

“We’ve got a plan to try and deal with him, hopefully that will work.”
