Northampton Town - On Christmas Day

A look back at the Cobblers record in games played on December 25

The last time Town played on Christmas Day was in 1956 when they drew with Southend United at the County Ground in a Division Three South fixture. As was the custom, Boxing Day then saw the reverse fixture being played which ended in a 1-0 Northampton win.

Such a schedule would frighten the life out of some of today's managers who complain about busy festive periods as it is!

The Cobblers overall record on Christmas Day is as follows:  Played 21, Won 4, Drawn 6, Lost 11, Scored 34, Conceded 39.
