Northampton Town's veteran midfielder Eoin Jess has left the club and is set to retire from professional football.
The 36-year-old was out of contract with the Cobblers and is hoping to start up his coaching career after a successful playing career.
Town boss Stuart Gray told the club's official website: "Eoin and I sat down and had a chat and at 36 I don't think he is too keen on carrying on his playing career.
"He was out of contract in the summer and it made sense to make this decision now.
"I think he wants to move into the coaching side of things and we wish him all the best with that."
Jess joined Town in the summer of 2005 from Nottingham Forest, having also played for Bradford City, Coventry City and Aberdeen earlier on in his career.
