Jackson refused request

Northampton Town chairman David Cardoza has rejected Danny Jackman's transfer request.

The club's current player of the year asked Cardoza if he could leave the Sixfield Stadium outfit. Cardoza then spoke to Cobblers manager Stuart Gray, and they denied the plea.

Speaking to the club's official website, Cardoza said: "Danny's asked to leave in writing but we've said no.

"He's contracted to us until the end of the season and I've repeatedly turned a number of offers down for Danny.

"Danny's a true professional and, while we understand his wish to play at a higher level, we hope he can begin to achieve that aim by helping us to promotion this season."

Cardoza is expected to feature in Town's opening game of the League Two season against Macclesfield Town.
