Hinton welcomes Town switch

Craig Hinton believes the current Northampton Town squad is good enough to make an immediate return to League One after moving to Sixfields on a 12-month contract.

The 31-year-old defender joins the Cobblers after spending the last five seasons with Bristol Rovers, although he drifted out of the first-team picture at the Memorial Stadium in the second half of the campaign just ended.

Hinton told Town's official website: "I'm here for a year initially and hopefully I can help the team push on.

"The aim is to bounce back straight away and League One is where we want to be the season after next.

"League One is a strong league and there are some very good teams in there so we want to get back there as quickly as possible.

"League Two is a tough league to get out of but I think with the players we've got here and with the fans behind us we can get promotion."
