Gray eyes home improvement
12 Jan 2007 - 11:07:58
Northampton Town boss Stuart Gray is determined to improve the Cobblers' home form and has called on the club's fans to help to make Sixfields a fortress.
Town remain in relegation trouble largely because of their poor home form - they have won only two of their 12 League One games at Sixfields to date - and Gray is determined to improve that record, starting against Carlisle United.
"Without the supporters we haven't got a football club and the backing they give the team does spur the players on," he told the Northampton Chronicle.
"So I'm asking the supporters to get behind the players. More often than not you're looking for the players to lift the fans, but we're asking for it to be the other way around.
"We'd like to create an intimidating atmosphere at home and hopefully this can become a bit of a fortress for us.
"We want teams to be coming here thinking it'll be difficult for them to get a result."
