Gray: Town must be tougher

15 April 2009 02:29
Boss Stuart Gray has warned his Northampton Town side to be stronger in defence as they seek to avoid relegation to League Two. The Cobblers remain in the bottom four following a 3-2 home reverse at the hands of Southend United and Gray was not too pleased with what he saw. He told the Chronicle and Echo: "We don't seem to be able to score a goal straight down the middle of teams or through bad defending by the opposition. I don't see us getting any free headers in the box. "We're not a million miles away, but we can't keep being a charity football club and keep giving silly goals away. "If we showed the kind of effort and commitment we did on Monday then I feel we will stay in this division. "The belief is there. It's in our hands, but talk is cheap."
