John Gorman has resigned as manager of League One strugglers Northampton Town due to personal reasons.
Gorman, who only took charge of the Cobblers at the start of the season, decided to leave after a meeting with club chairman David Cardoza on Wednesday morning.
Cardoza told the club's official website: "We are very sorry that John has had to make this decision. He did so for personal reasons.
"We continue to hold John in the highest regard and we wish him all the very best for the future.
"Ian Sampson and Jim Barron will take care of first-team affairs until further notice as the process begins to find a new manager."
Gorman, a former assistant manager with Spurs and England, has previous managerial experience with Swindon Town and Wycombe Wanderers.
