Crosby takes Cobblers role
14 Sep 2009 - 16:30:03
Northampton Town's caretaker manager, Ian Sampson, has added Malcolm Crosby to his coaching staff.
Crosby was in interim charge of Sunderland when the Black Cats appeared in the 1992 FA Cup final, during a time when Sampson was part of the squad at Roker Park.
Crosby arrives at Sixfields following a summer out of work, after leaving his post as Gareth Southgate's assistant at Middlesbrough.
"Malcolm was a big influence on my playing career (at Sunderland)," Sampson told the Cobblers' official website.
"He's vastly experienced and he's coming in to help us out. He's worked at all levels of the game and I know he can benefit us."
Before working at the Riverside Stadium, Crosby managed Oxford United and had spells as an assistant at Derby County and West Brom.
