Cobblers tempt Holt to stay

Northampton Town manager Stuart Gray has persuaded Andy Holt to sign a new two-year contract with the Cobblers.

The 29-year-old former Hull City and Wrexham defender has made 92 appearances for the club in his two seasons at Sixfields.

"I'm pleased that Andy has agreed terms as he's an excellent professional," Gray told Town's official website.

"He's a versatile player and has good experience in what's generally a young squad. He's good in the air and brings a lot of power to our left-hand side.

"He has a good fitness record and that's also important. He's also a big influence in the dressing room and is an excellent example for the young players to look up to."
