Cobblers swoop for Rodgers

Northampton Town have signed Arsenal's teenage defender Paul Rodgers on an initial month's loan.

The 19-year-old has made one senior appearance for the Gunners and moves to Sixfields to gain much-needed experience.

Town boss Stuart Gray told the club's official website: "As you would expect with any player from Arsenal, Paul is technically a very good player.

"He is very quick and powerful and he will benefit from being involved in a first-team squad at this stage in his career.

"He can play in more than one position and he will add to our squad for the next month.

"Hopefully he will come in and hit the ground running. We are still working hard to strengthen the squad further because I still think we are a bit thin on the ground."
